ED2012 3/5 Reviews ED2012 Theatre Reviews
Moondial (Moving Lights Theatre Company)
By Iain Martin | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Depression shouldn’t really be an entertaining topic to base a play around, but this young, all female cast prove it can be done. Harley is a student, who has struggled with her depression for years, when one day she opens her cleaning cupboard and discovers inside Miss Finnegan’s Finishing School for Fuckwits – four women who would appear to represent different aspects of Harley’s personality. There then follows a surprisingly warm, often very funny examination of depression and people’s attitudes towards it. It’s the comedic portions that work best, as the more serious parts have a tendency to be bit more like a public information film rather than an actual piece of theatre. All in all though, it’s an accomplished piece.
