Midnight At The Boar’s Head (Fine Chisel)

By | Published on Saturday 25 August 2012

Have you ever wanted to share a cup of sack with Falstaff and Prince Hal? If so, then the Boar’s Head is the inn for you! It’s hard to define this show, let alone explain why it’s so fantastic – and it is genuinely outstanding. Perhaps Shakespearean cabaret would be the best description: songs, scenes from Shakespeare’s works, and even a party-popper Agincourt. It’s a far cry from weighty, overly serious adaptations of the Bard. Bawdy, raucous, immersive and at times interactive,it’s the fun of Shakespeare as it should be. It’s a testament to the performers’ skill that they can segue from comedy to tragedy so seamlessly; they even got this cynical reviewer to sing along with the finale!

Zoo Southside, 3-27 Aug (not 15), 8.15pm.
