Lord Of The Flies (Beacon Theatre Group)
By Anna McDonald | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Beacon Theatre Group’s production of ‘Lord Of The Flies’ uses a fantastic adaptation of William Golding’s classic novel. Charting the story of a group of British schoolboys stranded on an island after a plane crash, and capturing the group dynamics as it descends into anarchy, this version evokes the disturbing downward spiral from playful youngsters to violent savages extremely well. Special mention in particular should go to Seb Calver, whose transformation, as Jack, from playground bully to ruthless killer was simply chilling, while Oliver Murphy’s docile Piggy was also excellent. In fact, the entire ensemble did an great job in creating the perfect mood, making this show very engaging indeed. A very impressive performance.
Paradise in Augustine’s, 21-27 Aug, 12.20pm.
