Life Is Too Good To Be True (Het Geluid)

By | Published on Friday 10 August 2012

Any attendee of the Edinburgh Festival would probably agree that fiction makes the world go round, but to what extent? Life Is Too Good To Be True discusses where we might draw the line between making the world a little brighter, and outright lying. We join a group therapy session with Gable Roelofsen playing Stephen Glass, the former journalist who in real life was fired from The New Republic in 1998 for fabricating stories. We also get a negative thinking workshop from a breast cancer survivor. Constructed around the words of artists, philosophers and celebrities, this is a smart, intimate piece, simultaneously arguing the importance of honesty and celebrating the power of fiction.
