Kemble’s Riot (Zincbar Performing Arts)

What price can be put on art? It’s 1809 and the respected Covent Garden Theatre has begun charging punters increased prices to see their shows. The crowd, lead by rabble-rousing idealist Henry Clifford, are about to get nasty. The twist is, you’re one of them. This is a fun show and a good place to let off steam, with the actors doing a great job of getting energy out of an essentially shy audience. This true story, of a theatre manager’s decision to raise ticket prices to make up for his own disastrous financial decisions, has considerable modern relevance, and the show’s themes are easy to digest.
