Karen’s Way – A Kindertransport Life (Yellow Leaf Theatre)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

This is the heart-warming tale of Karen Gershon, the celebrated Jewish poet who arrived in the UK as a child refugee on the Kindertransport in WW2. The play tells Gershon’s story simultaneously through her eyes as a child and as a grandmother, exploring how perspectives and people change over time. With the benefit of live piano and violin score, we are taken into her world, with all the conflicting emotions she felt at a time when her world was thrown into chaos and nothing was in her control. Poetry enabled her to express her pain and explore the mixed emotions of guilt, loss, anger and fear. This is a beautiful portrayal of a talented artist’s life.
