Grave Reunion (Stage Write Productions)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

Shocking, dramatic and above all poetic, ‘A Grave Reunion’ takes place when four university graduates meet after the death of one of their friends, Steve Hutchinson. They talk about their lives and their worries, about the secrets they carried with them for years. This production, whilst emotional and revelatory in its nature, is a bit slow at the beginning, specifically because all four characters remain seated for a long time; perhaps they should have been directed to make more attempts at stage movement, though this does improve as the play develops. The poetry itself, though occasionally predictable, gives the characters’ words a deeper, more emotional nature, and despite the slow stage direction, the play remains witty and well-written.
