Gotcha! (Suspect Moustache Theatre)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

Finally, a piece of art which dares to tackle the unspoken truths in today’s society – war affects both sides equally, some soldiers don’t understand the politics behind modern warfare and some working class Glaswegians are a bit racist. All this and more is touched upon in this one man masterclass in stating the bloody obvious. Our actor plays seven characters, all related to a young soldier wounded in Afghanistan. It offers no new insights into the issues it deals with: at best it’s boring and at worst slightly offensive. The acting is mediocre and, in what is essentially a storytelling performance, delivering everything to the back wall three feet above the audience’s heads is an odd tack to take. Not good.
