Divine Words (Fourth Monkey)

“Keep your mouth shut and hope for the best”: The last sentence of the performance could have been the theme for sitting through the whole play. Countless times I found myself wondering. Who is this? What does that mean? Why are they doing this? While I appreciate that previous knowledge of the play would have been an immense advantage, a performance should still be entertaining the audience and explaining the story somewhat comprehensibly on stage. The huge cast certainly had potential, but at the same time gave the play a certain kind of impenetrability. The story, set in Spain, revolves around a handicapped boy who is successfully used to beg for money, and a woman whose infidelity and cruelty are leading to disaster.
