Dirty Hands (DBS Productions)

This modern-day retelling of Sartre’s classic – about a man’s quest to kill a political member – fails to impress. The acting is unconvincing and occasionally lacks emotion and conviction too, while the story itself is somewhat vague and illogical. The spontaneous romantic twist near the end seems out of place, and the fact that the lead character knows he will be killed, but doesn’t try to thwart any future action, is baffling. The script also doesn’t reflect what real people would say, so that some lines sound forced, almost like a dictionary reading. The one bright spot to this dreary show was the character played by Hannah Brown, though even her character is hindered by the script’s flaws. Overall, ‘Dirty Hands’ seems like a dirty, failed dramatic attempt.
