Dad Doesn’t Dance (Nora Brown)
By Alexandra Wilks | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
It is rare to find a show with no redeeming features, but I’ve found one. In this bile-inducing solo performance, Nora Brown tells – in a monotone voice – the meandering and frankly ridiculous story of her search for her biological father. At random intervals, Brown dances around the stage, for no apparent reason, and her stabs at humour are almost painful, as the bewildered audience stares blankly on. The scenes with so-called ‘BioDad’ take a bizarre sexual turn as she runs her hands over her body stating “he likes what he sees”. Not having seen all the shows at the Fringe I can’t say it’s the worst, but it’s probably in the running for the title. Absolutely diabolical.
