Bound (Noosfeer – Belgium)

On a well lit stage in the early afternoon, three people jump into a boxcar on a freight train; what follows is an exploration of freedom and relationships. With background music from the guitar and the banjo, ‘Bound’ started well and seemed promising. However, the energy soon began to wane as humour gave way to cliché. This was mostly the fault of the script, which laboured ideas as opposed to suggesting them and failed to create authentic characters. Each individual performance was strong, but a lack of chemistry between the actors made the relationships unbelievable. At moments the play was thought-provoking and funny, however; enjoyable, but not life-changing.
