Boris & Sergey’s Vaudevillian Adventure (Flabbergast Theatre)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

Puppets. One red and brown, one grey and fluffy. No faces, no clothes, no fuss. Three people for each to move head and arms and legs. A cheap little table, cheap little jokes, cheap little tricks… and an audience that is flabbergasted, left in awe, astonishment and fits of laughter. It is utterly admirable what can be done with such simple means; all the surroundings seemed to fade into the shadows when only (rather rude) voices are heard and the tilting of a little leather head or the lifting of a flabby arm trigger emotions in the audience, moving from pity to shock, from gentleness to fear. Tender puppeteering and crude language combine in a triumphant melange of Vaudevillian entertainment.

Pleasance Courtyard, 1-27 Aug (not 13, 21), 11.00pm.
