Am I Good Friend? (Yve Blake / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Ana-Claudia Magaña | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Watching ‘Am I Good Friend’ is like listening to nails on a chalkboard: it’s so utterly painful. Not only was Yve Blake’s performance lacking – she distorted her face and voice to ill effect – but her attempts at parodying a science experiment made the show appear as unintelligent as the title. The videos and interviews were unnecessary, and parts of her act were disgusting; nose picking, anyone? The ending was too serious, making the entire show appear as an attempt to vent, or amend a part of her personal life. Indeed, the best things about this show were her awful dancing plus the ending. If you are a good friend, do not expose your mates to one hour of suffering at the mercy of this show.
The Cabaret Voltaire, 4-25 Aug (not 7, 14, 21), 2.35pm.
