ED2012 5/5 Reviews ED2012 Theatre Reviews
Allo Allo (Practical Magic Theatre Company)

What a delight to be so overindulged with charming, cheeky, cheerful and clever characters that it is impossible to choose a favourite one. You know how at the end of a good show, there is usually one performer who gets an extra bit of applause? Well, here everyone could have filled that position. In this stage version of the classic BBC sitcom, there’s a nostalgic stage set-up, slapstick and cabaret, and plenty of double meaning, double crossing and misinterpretation. A skilled cast had the audience in fits of laughter from the start. Come to Café Rene – where barmy Brits, resisting French and occupying Germans (and, of course, that Italian war hero!) meet.
Spotlites @ The Merchants’ Hall, 4-11 Aug, 7.45pm.
