COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
All That Is Wrong (Ontroerend Goed, Laika, Richard Jordan Productions and Drum Theatre Plymouth)
‘All That Is Wrong’ is the latest offering from Ontroerend Goed, a world-renowned Belgian theatre company who are no strangers to controversy. Arriving at this show with high expectations, I found an empty stage with a single chalk-board. However, what followed was one of the most gripping, original and politically relevant pieces of theatre I have ever witnessed: Koba Ryckewaert’s performance as a young girl pouring her heart out onto her chalk-board had every audience member leaning forward in their seats. Linking sex and pain, love and fear to wider comments on capitalism and modern society, Ryckewaert’s chalk is a master-stroke. A brilliant performance that will leave you feeling inspired and incited to social change.
Traverse Theatre, 2-12 Aug (not 6), times vary.
