A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum (Shed Theatre)
By Andy Leask | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
The early signs were not good: a youth theatre company performing the classic Roman-era farce. Luckily, I am glad to say they more than pulled it off. The opening performance of ‘Comedy Tonight’ seemed to bear out my fears, as a number of the cast looked bored and uninterested. Once things started properly though, all my doubts were dispelled. We were in capable hands with a cast that ranged from good to excellent, and especially with Ben Jacobs’ fantastically scheming Pseudolus – ably bearing the weight of the show on his young shoulders. Most importantly, they understood the nature of farcical comedy. They looked like they were enjoying themselves immensely, and I’m pleased to say I was too.
