Shaman’s Dream (Stella Polaris)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

These Norwegians certainly prove their passion for fire and their appealing physicality. The most absurd yet spectacular show I’ve seen this year: horses running wild, giant ravens in control of life and death, dwarves dancing in circles, shaking their bells, screaming, unknown beasts chasing dwarves and audience… all disguised by human performers. In one sequence, an agile man climbs up high onto a pole, letting himself slip down; just when the stunned audience stun are worrying, he proves that he can control his body perfectly, stopping before hitting the ground. We are completely amazed and gasp with surprise, admiration and relief. The intensity and surreal atmosphere are beyond words. I recommend it without a doubt, the only thing you need to consider is a comfortable and inflammable outfit for sitting on the grass and close to the fire. Be brave and don’t let them scare the hell out of you; like they did to me!
