ED2012 4/5 Reviews ED2012 Dance & Physical Theatre Reviews
Percurso – Course (Grupo Contemporâneo de Dança Livre)
By Stephanie Taylor | Published on Saturday 11 August 2012
Beginning somewhat slowly, this show may take a little time to warm to, but it won’t be long before you’re gripped by the feeling you’re seeing something special. Featuring sequences of different speeds and intensity, the more measured movement, sometimes unaccompanied by any sound at all, is equally as brave as the frantic. The varying ages of the five dancers – anywhere between approximately 16 and 65 – give the routines performed in unison an imperfect and vulnerable multiplicity, fulfilling their ambition to portray ‘human relations and their untimely cycles’. There is minimal use of props, some working more successfully than others, but overall it’s a joy to watch, and the soundtrack is consistently strong and interesting. It’s a real shame the run isn’t longer.
Greenside, 3-7 Aug (not 5), 10.20am.
