Life As We Know It (AD1 Dance Company)
By Beth Dawson | Published on Friday 17 August 2012
‘Can you hear me now?’ a figure asks from an empty stage which is soon filled with dance, exploring pursuing dreams and the stages of life. The organic sounds of life are recreated through the incorporation of breathing and hitting the stage into the dance, which itself consists of many group sequences and there are some duets which are particularly pleasing to the eye. Taking the youthfulness of the company into account, the piece is very well performed, although the spoken moments were a little angst filled. Alongside the performance, a projector displays monotone photographs and video footage, recordings are not completely seamless, but it does not detract from the thought provoking nature of such footage.
Greenside, 6-10 Aug, 10.35am.
