Dante (LSU Theatre)

By | Published on Sunday 12 August 2012

“She’s my softer, stronger other half” – holding on to this thought, Dante (in a pink shirt) started his journey to hell, searching for Beatrice, his love. Only by realising in the end that she is no angel or saviour, but only another human being, equal to himself, was he able to find her and put her back by his side. An antiquity turned into a modern tale, this piece is layered with music, video, acrobatics, stage acting and modern dance. The lighting is so panoramic that it helps to cover some occasional disharmony of the choreography and indistinctness of the speeches, while the use of four dashing white fabrics in the background gives the whole performance a flowing consistency. It gets better and better approaching the end.
