Dance-Forms 60th International Choreographers’ Showcase (Dance-Forms Productions)
By Beth Dawson | Published on Sunday 12 August 2012
You get a lot of dance for your money, here, and it’s non-narrative dance that is the order of the day: the showcase is split into two halves – ‘Synapsequence’ and ‘Five Dances’, and the choreography of both places emphasis upon music, dancer relationships and body manipulation. ‘Five Dances’ is a relatively playful piece; dancers weave in and out of each other, making eye-contact, whilst ‘Synapsequence’ is more aggressive with performers using strips of light at various points. At times the dancing did appear a little self-contained, but this is quickly forgotten once such dynamic, fluid floor work is seen, and this showcase is perfect for those wishing to get better acquainted with the contemporary dance style.
