Terror On Presley Beach (Robot Parrot Productions)
By Katie Cunningham | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012
This is a strange, strange show. An alien travels to earth to find a lost scientist, becoming entangled in the theme park antics of a group of teenagers. Either brilliant existential, surrealist comedy or just really badly written and put together: I honestly can’t tell. There’s an escaped gorilla. There’s a Boris Johnson cameo. The alien spends most of his time on stage talking to the head of a shop window dummy. The songs come out of nowhere and don’t do anything to help the plot or develop the characters and the plot itself wanders in tiny repetitive circles. Everything about this play is so off kilter that it’s hard to judge; you’ll either be bored, confused or impressed.
