Mod (Infinity Repertory Theatre)
By Katie Cunningham | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012
A bunch of Catholic school kids find a release from their boring lives in the Beatles. It’s not an original premise, but ‘Mod’ makes up for that with a lot of enthusiasm, loads of good jokes, and strong singing and acting. While it would probably be better to go along with a little Beatles knowledge, it’s not exclusively for fans and could probably be enjoyed by anyone. It’s never quite enough to break expectations – the original songs aren’t really catchy, it’s not especially memorable, and not much in it escapes from the expected high school drama clichés – but it’s still enjoyable, if not brilliant. If you want fun, nostalgia and a good time, Mod is a good way to go.
