Godspell (Stage By Stage)
By Grace Hardy | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
I was shocked at how professional this group of youngsters seemed as they sprang forth from the audience at the beginning of the show. Talented, slick and vivacious, the cast made us laugh and cry with their production of this renowned rock musical. ‘Godspell’ relates a series of Christian parables in a modern way, ranging from whimsical to poignant, interspersed with modern, catchy songs. Although the singing of a few cast members was sometimes weak or out of tune, their passion for the show was pleasantly evident, and many of the actors showed real promise, particularly Laura Porter as Jesus, who had more talent than many of the adult performers I have seen this year.
Paradise in Augustine’s, 21-25 Aug, 10.45am.
