Bohemians On The Fringe (Bohemian Lyric Opera Company)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

Take a group of am dram musical theatre lovers of mixed standard, some smart dresses, undemanding show tunes from musicals new and old, and you get ‘Bohemians on the Fringe’. There were a few fabulous individual performances, including Colin Cairncross’s charismatic ‘Poisoning Pigeons in the Park’, Johnny Collins’s melodious tear-jerker ‘Til I Hear You Sing Once More’, and Lorraine Keenan’s comical ‘Adelaide’s Lament’. Unfortunately, the show lost momentum in the chorus numbers, which felt repetitive as the two hours went on. Also, several other soloists were out of tune and blaring, ruining the otherwise polished feel of the show. However, the company obviously all love singing, which is pleasant to watch, even if they don’t always get it right.

St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, 16-17 Aug, 8.00pm.
