New Rope String Band (New Rope String Band / The Famous Spiegeltent)
By Lewis Wade | Published on Friday 17 August 2012
Delivering everything from contemporary morris dancing to Malayan chanting, the New Rope String Band know how to cater to all tastes. This manic trio has developed excellent on-stage chemistry, through various incarnations, over the last 24 years. Each member plays a finely honed comic persona, exaggerated just enough to straddle the boundary between music, comedy and theatre. They have the mark of great performers in that on top of their exquisite comic timing there is also a clear love and regard for the music they play. The group excels in the unexpected and reaps the rewards of risky stage antics (their highly original finale is a must-see). Though the humour and style is somewhat family orientated there is plenty to please everyone.
