Lost In The 80s (The Lost Fingers)
By David O’Connor | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
For those who don’t know much about jazz, this show will guarantee you one thing; Canadian gypsy jazz will be your new favourite genre. The Lost Fingers have become a sudden and roaring success in their native Canada, but remain pretty much unknown here in the UK. This show is a run through of some of the songs that appeared on their debut album ‘Lost in the 80s’ which, unsurprisingly, is a gypsy jazz tribute to some 80s classics. The sharply dressed trio please the crowd with hits – the likes of ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Tainted Love’ getting airings – but also treat us to some more obscure tunes and the use of a Turkish war horn. A must see for jazz fans and non jazz fans alike; extremely enjoyable.
The Famous Spiegeltent. 6.30pm. 24-26 Aug.
