David Vernon And Dick Lee (David Vernon, Dick Lee)
By Lewis Wade | Published on Tuesday 21 August 2012
Festival veterans David Vernon (accordion) and Dick Lee (clarinet, tin whistle) have played in numerous shows at the Fringe over the last twenty years and have now come together to create a show which demonstrates their considerable talents. Whether it be a Mozart rendition, a Chinese polka or even an original piece (Vernon’s ‘Solway Air’ is a particularly treat) this duo perform elegantly with quick fingers and smiling faces. The jokes may be bad but the chemistry between the two is evidenced by their easy onstage demeanour and reinforced by their professional musicianship. While the musical style may not be to everyone’s taste there is no denying that this duo are two of the best within their genre.
