All The King’s Men – It’s Reigning Men!
By Lewis Wade | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Entering to rapturous applause it was clear that All The King’s Men were riding high on a wave of confidence. The a capella company opened with a Lady Gaga medley that came to characterise the whole set; the arrangement was inventive and well-planned but the final product left something to be desired. Three-part harmonies with awkward choreography created a cacophony of sights and sounds that were simply too much for this group to handle. There were a few excellent vocalists, but they were generally trying to do too much or just swimming against a tide of mediocrity. It was an ambitious effort, but the results were distinctly mixed, though the row of screaming girls behind me might disagree.
