The Suggestibles

By | Published on Wednesday 15 August 2012

From the start, you knew it was going to be good. Players lost in the building just before the start of the show, and there was a keyboard – perfect. For one night only, Newcastle’s improv group took to the Edinburgh Fringe and my, did they do well. Some stand out sketches that will never be seen again (Simon and Brian’s mother come to mind) will stay with me every time I hear Duran Duran or think about Catholicism. However, suggestions from the audience were infrequently sought in the second half, leaving it with a slightly more scripted feel. The only problem is when you leave singing ‘I touch dogs’, and people overhear; they can’t really be expected to understand why.

Northern Stage at St Stephen’s, 7 Aug, 9.15pm.
