ED2012 5/5 Reviews ED2012 Comedy Reviews
The Pin (Pleasance Theatre Trust)
By Hannah Sweetnam | Published on Monday 20 August 2012
A giggle a minute, this cleverly worked, anti-chronological tale is certainly silly but similarly spectacular. A series of sketches are used to unravel a story, broken up by inspired ‘back in time’ scenes. The precision of these scenes, like rewinding a DVD, was astounding, and were interwoven with whimsical and occasionally risqué material – from interrupted proposals to innuendo-filled Shakespeare. The ex-Cambridge Footlights Ben, Mark and Alex, had the audience hooting from end to beginning with scenes featuring an array of lovable characters. The show reached its climax as the music of José González illustrated a brilliantly orchestrated fast-forward scene. With faultless comic timing and a playful yet intricate script, The Pin are certainly the ones to watch!
Pleasance Courtyard, 12-27 Aug (not 13, 20), 4.45pm.
