The Oxford Imps (Oxford Imps)

By | Published on Friday 24 August 2012

With their alumni filling out many of the improv troupes currently marauding around Edinburgh, the Oxford Imps are among the heavy-hitters of British improvisational comedy. Slick, smart and high-energy, the show mixes short and long form games that show off the assembled Imp talent to full effect. Whether it’s rapping, storytelling in the style of Dr Seuss, or extensive knowledge of the British cycling scene (used to great effect in Shakespearean long-form finale ‘The Cyclist of Box Hill’), the troupe are all supremely talented as individuals and formidable as a group. Though the show under-ran by a fair margin (it was quite a quiet audience), the Imps are a great example of classy, clever improv.
