The Joke Circus (Funny Boilers – Simon Weekes, Bob Fletcher, James Farmer and Tom Baker)
By Ellie Willis | Published on Wednesday 15 August 2012
With merely a top hat to represent the circus theme of their show’s title, this comedy show is certainly an amateur one, though enjoyable. At times awkward and fidgety this group of comedians struggle to hit their stride, soaring gracefully just below par, spurring chuckles with their mild wit as opposed to uproarious laughter. Simon Weekes playfully emphasizes this fact whilst his performers strive to disprove it, aptly creating a rather jumbled show. Each comedian, however, was enjoyable to watch and funny in their own right despite a lack of cohesion. By the end of the show one left pleased but in no way wowed by the performance.
