Tania Edwards – Killer Instinct (Corrie McGuire for Objective Talent)
By Simon Thornton | Published on Friday 24 August 2012
Tania Edwards doesn’t believe she has a killer instinct yet I’d disagree. Her self-described ”Faustian” stand-up recounts anecdotes showcasing Edwards’ desire to get ahead, from being dropped by a female incontinence advert, to her agent asking her to kill her cat. She delivers every joke with tenacity and verve, something which is heightened by her clipped middle-class tones. What’s more, Edwards possesses wonderful stage presence, her eagle-eyed glare keeping the audience engaged throughout her narrative, and her banter with the crowd is incredibly quick. She merely adds to her tragic persona when she worries that younger audience members may not grasp some of her references. A very punchy stand-up that will keep you engaged and amused.
Underbelly Bristo Square, 1-26 Aug (not 14), 10.50pm.
