Slap And Giggle – Redrawn (Sid Wick and James Bennison / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Iain Martin | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Slap And Giggle are a sketch duo with a fine sideline in musical comedy. With an eye for the surreal, they bounce from one madcap idea to the next at a suitably energetic pace, taking in the workings of the Cluedo Police, double acts featuring a Ken (there aren’t many), and my personal favourite, John Lennon’s attempts at a comeback in collaboration with a rapper. There’s a lot of fun to be had, but the show is by no means perfect, and the sketches, although often very funny, have a tendency to peter out without any real punchline. Their ideas and performances however, are very strong, and they may well be an act to look out for in the future.
