Simon Munnery – Fylm-Makker (Simon Munnery / The Stand Comedy Club / Show And Tell)
By Eloise Kohler | Published on Wednesday 15 August 2012
Spending an hour with Simon Munnery is like getting to know an eccentric yet brilliant loon who chirps exactly what comes into his head as it occurs to him. Like its creator, Fylm-Makker does not conform, the odd spelling of the phrase a nod to his innovative idea of live film: he sits at the back of the venue, whilst two projectors blast his every move as it happens. His monologues were fantastic, and he easily moves from one topic to the next, yet he makes too much use of the projector to tell stories with paper figures “made earlier” and after a while I found this distinctly boring, though it should be acknowledged that the audience, no doubt made up of his ardent and loyal fans, hung on his every word.
