Sarah Jones – Does Not Play Well With Others (Sarah Jones – Ventriloquist Comedian Australia)
By Holly Close | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Sarah Jones might not play well with others, but she does know how to put on a lovely show. Ventriloquism isn’t for everyone, but Jones’s charming whimsy and sweet self-deprecation are probably enough to win over all but the most hardened of puppet-haters. Hailing from Melbourne (or Sydney: it depends who you ask), she was full of disbelieving excitement that such a big crowd had turned up for her very first Fringe show, and this joy was completely infectious. Some of her characters don’t work quite as well as the others – I’m looking at you, Australian Uncle Barry – but Jones is so genuinely likeable that any problems are smoothed over with a smile and some gentle good humour.
