Richard Herring’s Edinburgh Fringe Podcast (Richard Herring / The Stand Comedy Club)
By Sarah Richardson | Published on Monday 20 August 2012
British Olympians, Richard Herring observes at the start of his show, are pretty damn good at sports no one else can afford. Herring, by contrast, is superb at delivering a podcast on a budget. The Fringe veteran began (after establishing his recorders were working) with some topical stand-up, before introducing his main guest, on this occasion, We Are Klang’s Marek Larwood. Their exchange – covering topics as diverse as Steve Redgrave, eyeball-licking and trouser-dropping – was as slick as it was wide-ranging. Some impressive mind reading by Doug Segal followed, as did a lively game of True or False with the audience. Herring’s skill is in never overshadowing his subject, but never being outshone himself. Gold medal standard.
