Paul T Eyres – T Eyres Of A Clown (Paul T Eyres / Free Festival)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

Paul T Eyres is performing in the wrong venue, at the wrong time, in the wrong style. As a friendly, thoughtful History graduate, with quick-witted improvisation skills, he really didn’t need to write a sexually explicit show to appeal to the lowest common denominator in a nightclub; such near-the-knuckle material just didn’t seem to suit him. The brief moments when he stopped telling unsophisticated jokes about his genitals were certainly the most effective. In fact, Eyres’ sensitive discussions of depression and motor neurone disease were genuinely touching, demonstrating that he could do much better if he directed his intellect away from explicit material. Next Fringe, please book an afternoon slot in a coffee shop and discuss books instead.

Laughing Horse @ Espionage, 2-27 Aug, 10.00pm.
