Oyster Eyes Presents… Some Rice
By Lia Sanders | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
You know when something is kind of funny, but everyone else is more drunk than you and finding it far funnier? Me, last night, ‘Some Rice’. From the Broadway-style opening where the cast pretend not to have a show ready, the audience are chortling away. The guy who got continually picked on to help in the sketches (he doesn’t have to do much: just dance and get married) was loving it. Don’t get me wrong; there were bits I enjoyed and there is something fascinating about the way that Oyster Eyes teeter on the edge of the bizarre, just like the bum-bags that they inexplicably wear. Yet ultimately I was a lot more bemused than amused.
Underbelly, Cowgate, 2-26 Aug (not 14), 10.25pm.
