Owen O’Neill – Struck By Lightning (AR Fringe)
By David O’Connor | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Struck By Lightning is the latest foray into the realm of stand-up comedy by Owen O’Neill, a man who transcends performance genres, flirting with acting, writing, poetry and indeed, stand-up. This set, as the title suggests, tells the story of O’Neill being struck by lightning in his youth and how it has affected him since. In truth, this is not a straightforward comedy routine, more an amalgamation of comedy and one-man theatre, with O’Neill displaying his acting skills by taking on the roles of those who have had a bearing on his life. He does this with an infectious energy that, in the hands of a someone with less experience, could become tiresome.
