Owen Niblock – Codemaker (PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Christopher Rumbles | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
If you like your humour delivered with a large helping of IT and computing related opinions then Owen Niblock will serve up the sort of subtle wit and nostalgia that will make it worth briefly casting aside your various devices. Styled as more of a trip through Niblock’s geeky life than a direct look at computing, the show can at times suffer from being a bit pedestrian and safe. However, Niblock throws in enough self-deprecation, programming puns, and observational humour to underline the fact that he is as much a humorist as he is a geek. You cannot fail to like Niblock but at the same time his show’s set-up skirts a little close to the monotonous. Ultimately he is more raconteur than comedian.
