Mr Susan’s ‘Cheeky Flippin’ Nice’ – Free (Mark Davison / Laughing Horse Free Festival)
By Holly Close | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
A monkey called NooNoo; a song about the Pompidou Centre, and claims that he’s from another planet – ‘Cheeky Flippin’ Nice’ is definitely not a show for those with a low tolerance for absurdity. The strangely-accented Mr Susan puts on a high-energy show that’s big on audience involvement, and for the most part, it’s all inclusive good fun, thanks to his ridiculous turns of phrase, silly nicknames and genuine concern about certain jokes being too “fruity” for an 11 year old. The songs are perhaps a gimmick too far – not packing enough of a comedic punch to justify the breaks in what is otherwise quite a pacey show – but it’s a likeable, zany way to spend an hour.
