Max Fletcher – Delicious (Max Fletcher / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Lauren Simpson | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Max Fletcher is a young comedian with charisma and lots of enthusiasm. ‘Delicious’ consists of various sketches, each one listed on the venue wall for his audience to see, which is an interesting idea if nothing else. It is, it has to be said, a fairly self-indulgent set, with Fletcher sometimes seeming to make jokes purely for his own enjoyment, and at times failing to really share with his intimate audience. But there are some moments of comic genius, most notably one hilarious sketch about Joey from ‘Friends’, with its brilliant comparison to Yogi Bear. But the show at large gets a bit lost and distracted as it progresses, depriving the performance of decent flow. All that said, if you’re looking for lots of silly sketches and ironic comedy then Fletcher is worth a punt.
