Mace And Burton – Rom Com Con (Mace And Burton / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Hannah Sweetnam | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Lizzy and Juliette demonstrate more balls than most could dream of in feel-good look at the flicks ‘Rom Com Con’. The likeable duo tell the hilarious story of their year imitating scenarios from romantic comedies, from ‘Hitch’ to ‘Pretty Woman’, in an attempt to find their Darcy or Romeo. Reading ‘Dorian Gray’, wearing a massive hat to a wedding, and holding auditions to find men that they despise are just some of the lengths the charismatic duo have gone to in the name of uncovering whether love is just “a biological con” or if rom-coms really do provide a realistic sense of hope. This silly romp also had poignant moments, which added to the sense that the story was a rom-com in its own right!
