LOLd On A Minute (Crazy Legs Theatre)
By Joseph Trotter | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Magic and comedy: do they mix? Can they mix? Well, there’s a fair incidence of high profile acts injecting humour into their conjuring acts, but the boys of ‘LOLd On A Minute’ mix the two genres more distinctly, and to mixed effect: at times this felt like two different shows, a show-off magic show tacked onto a fairly promising series of situation sketches. Bright and fresh, the comedy featured some interesting ideas and decent one-liners, but though the magic sections could have been good, they didn’t really fit well with the rest of the show, unbalancing the pace and style of the piece. Although the presentation was somewhat wooden, the duo are still developing as an act so this might be attributed to a lack of experience. The promise is there; now must come the refinement.
