Josie Long And Sam Schäfer’s Awkward Romance (PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Emma Obank | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
With effervescent award nominee Josie Long listed in the Free Fringe guide, it’s no surprise that several Long lovers flocked to see her show with Sam Schäfer, about grand romantic gestures and mishaps. She gave yet another energetic, delightful performance, proving her worth as one of Britain’s most talented comedians. However, the show seemed to be more about offering the stage to young comedian Sam Schäfer, and although Long was right in stating that he has some beautiful stories to share, his material was awkwardly delivered, and the audience struggled somewhat to stay glued to the performance. There is certainly potential in Schäfer, but Josie Long outshone him with her beaming stage presence.
