Jack And Nikki – Killing Machines (Tea Fuelled / PBH’s Free Fringe)

Jack and Nikki have set up a contract-killing business and they need your investment. These two likeable performers successfully tread the line between reality and absurdity in this unusual show of bonkers, yet satirical, comedy. The audience experience is surreal; we are treated as investors while the pair pitch their invented business: Killing Machines. Complete with Powerpoint presentation, promotional video (also hilariously recreated on stage) and logo, the “partners in crime” shrewdly mock the meaningless jargon of the business world. After an uncannily believable start, the pitch/show becomes simultaneously darker and madder as it progresses. For me this shift was handled well and no humour was lost, though not everyone will like the ridiculous ending.
