Isolated Isle (Capelles Fringe Players)

By | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012

This show recounts the trials and tribulations of Guernsey during WWII (through song, storytelling and sign language), and while it is undoubtedly an important tale to be told, this amateur ensemble fail to fully bring the story to life. The cast, around half of whom were under ten, understandably did not bring the highest calibre of acting to the stage, but it was clear that this was a subject close to their hearts. The show itself was brief and fractured, but it was sweet to see a group of children trying their best and nine-year old Elisha Horsepool was a delight throughout. Recommended if you’re interested in a heartfelt tribute to just one chapter of a tragic war.
